TL;DR
Clean the glass surface, peel the sticker backing, place it on the inside of your rear windshield (bottom corner), press firmly, and test by scanning from outside. Takes under 2 minutes.
Got your VahanTag sticker? Great. Here's exactly how to install it for maximum visibility and durability. The entire process takes less than 2 minutes.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Step 1: Clean the Surface
Use a dry, lint-free cloth to wipe the area where you'll place the sticker. Remove any dust, fingerprints, or moisture. For best results, clean with a glass cleaner first and let it dry completely.
Step 2: Choose Your Placement
The best locations for your VahanTag sticker are:
- Rear windshield (inside, bottom corner): Most visible to people behind your parked car. This is the recommended spot.
- Driver-side rear window (inside): Good alternative if rear windshield has tinting issues.
- Front windshield (inside, passenger side bottom): Visible when parked head-in.
Avoid: Placing on the outside (weather damage), on body paint (harder to scan), or behind heavy tint (scanner can't read the QR).
Step 3: Peel and Apply
- Peel the backing off the sticker slowly from one corner
- Align the sticker straight — use the window edge as a guide
- Press the sticker starting from the center, moving outward
- Smooth out any air bubbles with your finger or a card
Step 4: Test It
Walk outside your car and scan the QR code with your phone camera from about 30cm away. It should load your VahanTag profile instantly. If it doesn't scan, check that the sticker isn't behind a heavily tinted area.
Pro Tips for Best Results
- Temperature matters: Apply when the glass is at room temperature. Avoid installing in extreme heat or cold.
- Inside vs outside: Always place on the inside of the glass. This protects the sticker from rain, dust, and UV damage.
- Height check: Position it at a height where someone standing next to your car can easily scan it (roughly hip to chest height from outside).
- Multiple stickers: For SUVs or vans, consider placing on both the rear and one side window for maximum coverage.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- Placing behind dark window tint — the camera may struggle to read the QR code
- Applying on a wet or dusty surface — reduces adhesion
- Sticking on the outside — rain and sun will degrade the QR code over time
- Placing too high — people can't reach to scan comfortably
- Covering with other stickers or decorations
What If I Need to Move the Sticker?
If you need to reposition, gently peel from one corner using a thin card or your fingernail. The adhesive is strong but won't damage glass. Note that re-application may reduce stickiness. Contact support@vahantag.me if you need a replacement sticker.
